this, part II of you series, is every bit as powerful as the first part. The parakeet is vulnerable and not impervious to threats yet, still, it rules over its domain.
I’m hoping this series will stir the question about what freedom means to each one of us.
Some think freedom is financial, some think it’s the ability to go anywhere, some think it’s the ability to love and be loved or do something you really love or be free from a sickness and so on…
So what does freedom mean to you is the main question …
this is admirable - that you are provoking us, your readers, to consider something so significant and important, but which we take for granted so much of the time. You certainly have me thinking about it.
The shift from fearing the rat to realizing that true freedom meant actively choosing the love inside his cage rather than escaping it gave me chills because it beautifully redefines what it means to actually own your life ✨
Sometimes we look at someone else’s wings without seeing what they carry. I loved the moment when the parakeet realizes his life wasn’t a prison, but a different kind of belonging.
I try to remember my realm as well. I'm glad you did.
Let’s keep reminding each other 😊
an enchanting heart filled read (ps. I know rats … they are easy to scare)
beautiful.
Thank you so much Sara 🙏 ❤️ 🌸
